Bio Ionic OnePass Review

The Bio Ionic OnePass is designed to style, as the name suggests, in just one pass. This flat iron touts itself as the fastest flat iron ever made, with “nano-ceramic” ion-infused plates that straighten hair, without the damaging effect that some other flat irons can produce.

With a range of temperatures to choose from, you can achieve soft, silky, smooth hair in less time than ever before, and at the setting that best fits your hair. Bio promises that using this iron will cut your preparation time in half, especially if you are using a cheap, drugstore flat iron.

Bio Ionic One Pass

At 1.5 inches, the straightening plates on this flat iron are larger than most standard flat irons (there´s also a 1″ OnePass available). At two pounds, it is also a little heavier.

The plates are ceramic, infused with ions, for fast and even heating, as well as consistent temperatures.

The unit itself is black, with a blue plates, and a streamlined design, including a tapered, rounded edge that makes it easy to get even close the scalp and around the ears. The whole unit is ten inches long, with half of that length dedicated to the straightening plates.

The good

The higher heat and ceramic technology does make it faster to flat iron the hair. The slim design also makes this unit ideal for curling and waving applications, as it is easy to manipulate, and the heat allows for the even straightening and curling.

The plates themselves are wide enough to handle thick hair, without being unmanageable for thin hair, or for taming frizz close to the head. It also has a rapid heat-up features, which makes it essential if you are trying to cut down on wasted time in the morning. This feature, along with the specially designed straightening plates can cut down styling time, no matter what style you are going for.

The bad

Though the name claims that this is a one-pass flat iron, you will probably fine that each section of hair needs more than one pass, especially if you have very thick hair. Though the wide plates do allow you more control, some women also find that they make it difficult to get bangs or short layers to the same texture as longer layers.

In addition, this unit has silicone guides alone the straightening plates that are designed to help hair glide through and straighten effectively, but you may find that they snag at your hair and make it more difficult to get that pain straight look you are searching for.

Our Verdict

This is definitely one of the best flat irons in the price range. It has plenty of heat and the necessary sensors to keep the plates at a consistent heat, even after you pass it through your hair. It is light enough to make it feasible for styling even the thickest head of hair, and the shape provides plenty of different styling options.

While you may find that it does not always do the job in “one pass,” two will definitely get the job done, even on the thickest, curliest hair.
